Amazon must be accountable for the workers who deliver its packages.

Amazon has built a massive delivery network while using subcontracting to distance itself from responsibility for the workers who make that network possible. When a delivery worker is overworked, injured, retaliated against, or denied basic workplace protections, Amazon can point to a subcontractor and claim it isn't responsible.

The Delivery Protection Act would change that.

The bill would require major last-mile delivery companies like Amazon to directly employ the workers delivering their packages, putting responsibility for working conditions where it belongs. Amazon wants the benefits of doing business in New York City without taking responsibility for the workers who power its logistics empire. That cannot be the future of work in our city. Amazon workers deserve protection and accountability from this company.

The Delivery Protection Act has growing support from workers, community organizations, and elected officials—including Mayor Zohran Mamdani. A majority of New York City Council Members have signed onto the bill. Now, we just need the bill called to a vote.
