Our Fight for a Contract

2022: A Historic Breakthrough

Workers at JFK8 formed the Amazon Labor Union and won a groundbreaking NLRB election—becoming the first Amazon warehouse in the country to unionize.

2022–2026: Amazon Refuses to Accept the Results

Instead of respecting workers’ decision, Amazon launched an aggressive anti-union campaign, refusing to recognize the union, filing legal challenges to delay bargaining, continuing workplace practices that undermine organizing, and spending millions on union-busting efforts.

Workers didn’t back down. We organized, spoke out, and kept building power on the shop floor. We rallied to demand recognition, we built national attention and solidarity, and we took collective action, including a strike, to force accountability.

2026: A Legal Victory

On April 1, 2026, the National Labor Relations Board issued a historic order requiring Amazon to recognize and bargain with the Amazon Labor Union–IBT Local 1 at JFK8. Four years after workers won the first union election at an  Amazon warehouse in U.S. history, the law has once again affirmed what we’ve always known: when workers organize, we can win.

What Now?

This is not the end of the fight. It is the beginning of a new and more dangerous phase. Amazon has already spent years and millions of dollars trying to break our union. As we enter bargaining, the company will escalate its union-busting to unprecedented levels through delays, intimidation, misinformation, and legal attacks designed to wear workers down and run out the clock.

They are betting that we won’t have the resources to sustain this fight. They are wrong, but only if we stand together.

This moment will determine more than just one contract at one warehouse. What happens at JFK8 will reverberate across the country and the world. If Amazon workers win a strong first contract, it will open the door for hundreds of thousands of workers to organize and raise standards across the logistics industry. If Amazon succeeds in crushing this effort, it will send a message to every corporation that the law can be ignored and worker organizing can be defeated. We cannot let that happen.

We are building something bigger than a union. We are building a durable counter-force to one of the most powerful corporations in human history, an organization rooted in worker leadership, democratic participation, and collective action. This is about the future of work, the future of our communities, and the future of democracy itself.

We Need Our Community to Stand with Us

Workers at JFK8 have already shown what’s possible. We organized against impossible odds. We went on strike. We forced one of the richest companies in the world to the bargaining table. Now, we need the resources to finish what we started. Your support will help us:

  1. Organize a majority of workers and build strike-readiness on the shop floor

  2. Fight back against Amazon’s union-busting and legal attacks

  3. Prepare for high-stakes contract negotiations

  4. Build the power needed to win real improvements in wages, safety, and dignity

Amazon has virtually unlimited resources. We have something stronger: each other. But solidarity must be material. To win, we need a broad community of supporters who are ready to invest in this fight and stand with workers for the long haul.

This is a historic opportunity to shift the balance of power in this country, away from corporate control and toward working people.
