
2025 Executive Board Election
Amazon Labor Union – IBT Local 1 is proud to announce the upcoming Executive Board Election, which will be held in December 2025. Below is a simple breakdown of the key rules, eligibility requirements, and important dates every member should know.
Eligibility
Who Can Vote:
All hourly full-time, part-time, and flex schedule workers at JFK8 (546 Gulf Avenue, Staten Island, NY) are eligible to vote.
Members on medical leave, workers’ comp, or other excused leave remain eligible.
Former officers (“Legacy Officers”) remain eligible if they meet membership requirements.
Who Can Run for Office:
To be eligible to run in the December 2025 election, you must:
Be a registered ALU-IBT Local 1 member by the Nomination Meeting on November 16, 2025.
Attend at least one membership meeting either October 25 or November 15, 2025 (5–7 PM) at the Union Hall (600 Gulf Ave, Staten Island, NY 10314)
If you can’t attend due to valid reasons, you may appeal to the Election Official for an exemption.
Collect petition signatures before the nomination meeting:
40 signatures for individual candidates, or
225 signatures for a slate (team) of candidates.
Legacy Officers must meet the same criteria.
Election Procedures
Petitions:
Petition packets (paper and electronic) will be available starting October 25, 2025 at the Union Hall and on the website.
Signatures must be authentic and freely given. Fraudulent petitions will lead to disqualification.
Nominations:
Nomination Meeting: November 16, 2025 at 5 PM at the Union Hall (600 Gulf Avenue, Staten Island).
Any eligible member may nominate or second a candidate.
A candidate must accept their nomination (in person or in writing).
If a candidate runs unopposed, they are automatically elected.
Election Details
Election Date: No earlier than December 7th, 2025 (exact date announced at nomination meeting).
Election Method: In-person walk-in voting
Ballots:
Prepared by the IBT and administered by a neutral Teamster election vendor.
Candidates will be listed individually and by slate (no write-ins).
Translated instructions will be provided for non-English-speaking members.
Each ballot will include a union membership form if you haven’t filled one out before.
Campaign Period:
Candidates may campaign between November 16 and the election date.
All candidates have equal access to campaign opportunities.
The union can distribute campaign materials at the candidate’s expense upon request.
Election Supervision:

Saturday, October 25, 2025 — Membership Meeting (In Person)
Time: 5:00 – 7:00 PM EST
Address: 600 Gulf Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10314
Purpose: Attendance counts toward candidate eligibility. Petition packets become available at Union Hall and on the ALU website.
Saturday, November 15, 2025 — Membership Meeting (In Person)
Time: 5:00 – 7:00 PM EST
Address: 600 Gulf Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10314
Purpose: Final opportunity for candidates to meet attendance requirements.
Sunday, November 16, 2025 — Nomination Meeting (In Person)
Time: 5:00 PM EST
Location: ALU-IBT Local 1 Union Hall
Address: 600 Gulf Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10314
Purpose: Candidate nominations, acceptance of nominations, and petition signature deadline.
Election date (December 2025) will be announced during this meeting.
