A labor union enables us to exercise the right of collective bargaining: with a union we can negotiate our wages, benefits, and working conditions for the first time at Amazon. A union also offers protection, democratic decision-making, and mutual support and solidarity.
Sign an authorization card, join the Days Organizing Committee or the Nights Organizing Committee, volunteer to distribute information, talk to your coworkers, attend events, share news, fundraise, contribute art or music, everything helps.
In simplified form, the union election process can involve the following seven steps. We are currently between step 5 (election victory!) and step 6 (post-election hearing) at JFK8, and we are between step 3 (election agreement) and step 4 (voting!) at LDJ5. You can click on each step to see
The ALU makes decisions through voting, consensus, and committee. All officers must be elected by ALU members. The current ALU Executive Board and Constitution are serving on a temporary basis: members may propose any amendments or changes they see fit and may run for any union position.
Negotiations are led by the ALU Bargaining Committee, made up of workers from each shift and department. We need intelligent, strong-minded workers to step forward to help negotiate a fair contract for all workers. We do all of the work, we should have a say in our working conditions.
ALU members decide by worker democracy what matters most and must change at Amazon. Our core demands include pay raises appropriate to the high cost-of-living, actual Paid Sick Days, job security so we can't be fired at will, a shuttle service for workers from all five boroughs, and more.
We are workers. We have experience behind us. And we will win more for everyone before we pay anything.
Amazon has spent an estimated $59 million dollars fighting its own workers organizing the Amazon Labor Union over the past year. We propose that Amazon stop spending money on anti-union consultants and classes and distribute the money as an $8,900.00 Union Bonus to all Staten Island Associates.
